START WITH YOUR CLOSURE

Choose the Right Capping Method

Match the bottle neck and cap design before choosing the machine configuration.

Threaded & Lug Closures

Assess screw tightening or lug-cap application around the neck finish and closure design. Define the required tightening and opening characteristics.

Crimp, Crown & ROPP Closures

These closures use different forming or pressing tools. Supply bottle and cap samples to assess the correct head and bottle support.

Press-On Caps & Corks

Match pressing or insertion tooling to the closure geometry and bottle neck. Confirm seating depth, support and acceptance criteria.

Closure methods are not interchangeable. Different cap families may require separate machines or dedicated tooling, even when cap diameters are similar.

MATCH AUTOMATION TO YOUR OUTPUT

Find the Right Capping Configuration

Define bottle loading, cap placement and closure operation as separate functions.

Manual & Handheld Tools

For operator-controlled closure tasks. Assess tool fit, bottle support and practical output with representative samples.

Semi-Automatic Stations

For operator-loaded bottles with a powered closure cycle. Confirm whether cap placement is manual and how formats are adjusted.

Automatic Capping Systems

For coordinated bottle transport and closure. Specify cap sorting, feeding, placement and discharge in the proposed scope.

Automatic tightening or crimping does not necessarily include automatic cap feeding. Output depends on the actual bottle, closure, loading arrangement and line conditions.

FROM FILLED BOTTLE TO CLOSED PACK

How a Capping Workflow Works

A typical workflow coordinates bottle handling, closure placement and the selected closing method.

  1. 01

    Present the Bottle

Position the filled bottle with suitable guides, holders or transfer parts.

  2. 02

    Place the Closure

Apply the compatible cap or cork manually or through the specified feeding system.

  3. 03

    Close the Pack

Tighten, crimp, press or insert the closure using matched tooling and settings.

  4. 04

    Check & Discharge

Check the specified closure criteria and transfer the finished bottle downstream.

Stopper insertion, cap inspection, rejection and foil sealing are additional functions to define where required.

KEY SELECTION POINTS

What to Confirm Before Choosing a Capping Machine

Provide these six details to assess tooling, handling and production requirements.

Bottle Shape & Neck Finish

Share material, dimensions, filled weight and neck drawings. Identify flexible, tall or irregular bottles that need special support.

Cap or Cork Specifications

Provide closure material, dimensions and drawings, including threads, liners, skirts, pumps or stopper assemblies. Send actual samples.

Closure Performance

Define tightening, crimping, seating or insertion criteria as applicable. Agree on suitable testing for the complete bottle and closure assembly.

Target Output & Feeding

State bottles per minute or hour and operator involvement. Specify bottle supply, cap sorting, placement and discharge needs.

SKU Changes & Tooling

List all bottle and closure combinations. Confirm heads, guides, holders and transfer parts, together with adjustment and changeover procedures.

Layout, Utilities & Environment

Provide conveyor height, floor space, power and air supply where needed. Define cleaning, material and documentation requirements for your project.

AUTOMATIC BOTTLING & CUSTOMIZED SOLUTIONS

Connect Capping to Your Complete Bottling Line

Coordinate upstream filling and downstream labeling around your bottle, product and output.

Bottle Feeding & Preparation

Plan sorting, transfer and any required washing or drying. Match bottle presentation to the filling and closure stations.

Product Filling

Match dosing equipment to viscosity, fill quantity and product conditions. Coordinate filling output with capping capacity.

Cap Sorting & Delivery

Assess suitable feeding for the actual cap geometry. Specify orientation, delivery and any separate liner or component handling.

Capping & Format Handling

Choose the closure method and bottle support. Define change parts and adjustments for every planned format.

Inspection & Additional Sealing

Specify cap presence, placement or other required checks. Assess induction foil sealing separately where compatible liners and closures are used.

Labeling & End-of-Line Packing

Plan coding, labeling, accumulation and case packing. Coordinate conveyor transfers and downstream output.

CAPPING MACHINE FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers about closure methods, automation and machine selection.

Can one machine handle every cap type?
No. Screw, lug, crimp, crown, ROPP and press-on closures use different tools and closing actions. Confirm compatibility for each bottle and closure combination.
Does an automatic capper include cap feeding?
Not necessarily. Automatic may describe the closure cycle or bottle transport. Specify cap sorting, delivery and placement separately when defining the configuration.
Can one machine cap different bottle sizes?
This depends on its working range, bottle support and closure tooling. Different formats may require heads, guides, holders or transfer parts. Provide samples of every format.
How do I define the required tightening torque?
Use the closure supplier’s specifications and tests on the actual bottle, cap and liner assembly. Share the required application and opening characteristics, and confirm how they will be checked.
Can it handle pumps, triggers or irregular caps?
Special closure geometry may require dedicated tooling, orientation and feeding arrangements. Supply actual components and describe the intended loading method for assessment.
Does capping also create an induction foil seal?
No. Induction foil sealing is a separate process using compatible caps and liners. Define the foil-sealing station separately if your packaging requires it.
What should I send for machine selection?
Send bottle and closure drawings and samples, product details, target output, closure criteria, automation requirements, SKU changes and line layout.
